Week 9 All-Threat Team
Threat Ratings are hot off the presses for week 9 and some familiar faces rose to the top again. Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson and Travis Kelce all made one of the teams for the third time this season, but yet another quarterback joins the All-Threat lineage this week, with Jalen Hurts making his first appearance of the season. Here is the full All-Threat team this week:
Threat Ratings Week 9 First Team
QB- Jalen Hurts(1), Philadelphia: Hurts had an efficient 18 for 24 performance against the Jaguars on Sunday averaging 9.6 yards per attempt. He threw for 230 yards and added 67 on the ground throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for one, all while committing no turnovers. Hurts was 2nd among all quarterbacks in Rushing Threat and 1st in Passing Threat in the win over the Jaguars. He has now gone 5 consecutive game without an interception and 4 in a row with no turnovers of any kind.
RB- Saquon Barkley(3), Philadelphia: Barkley joins his teammate on the All-Threat team in week 9. In a game highlighted by his viral reverse hurdle, Barkley did much more than that to help lead the Eagles to victory. He rushed 27 times for 159 yards and a touchdown while also catching 3 passes for 40 yards and another touchdown through the air. Barkley led all backs in rushing only Threat and was 2nd only to Rico Dowdle in receiving Threat among running backs. He continues to be the engine for this Eagles offense.
RB- Chase Brown(1), Cincinnati: With Zack Moss now likely out for the year, Brown has taken advantage of his opportunity to be the Bengals clear cut number 1 back. He rushed for 120 yards on 27 carries in the win over the Raiders and also caught 5 passes for 37 yards and a touchdown. Brown was 4th in rushing only Threat and 5th among running backs in receiving Threat in week 9. The Bengals acquired Khalil Herbert this week, but expect Brown to be their bell cow for the foreseeable future.
TE- Mike Gesicki(1), Cincinnati: Gesicki makes it a pair for another team as the Bengals put two on the first team All-Threat this week. Gesicki caught 5 of 6 targets for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Bengals put up 41 on the Raiders. He nearly edged out Travis Kelce for the top spot this week and gave the Bengals a much needed boost with Tee Higgins out of the lineup.
WR- Jaxon Smith-Njigba(2), Seattle: Don’t look now, but the second year receiver who entered the league with so much promise, is now on pace for a 1000 yard season. Smith-Njigba entered that realm on Sunday with 180 yards on only 7 catches, good for 25.7 per catch. He also scored 2 touchdowns in the contest. Seattle came up short, but Smith-Njigba made big play after big play as they were battling to force overtime including a 14-yard Touchdown reception that tied the game with 51 seconds to play.
WR- Justin Jefferson(3), Minnesota: At some point, you just copy and paste Justin Jefferson into the list and see who grabs the other two spots. Jefferson had his biggest yardage output of the season this week with 137 against the Colts. He racked up that yardage on only 9 targets for an impressive 15.2 yards per target, second only to his 19.0 in week 2 when he was aided by a 97 yard reception. He once again leads the NFL in receiving yards, a familiar position. And he’s done so in only 8 games as the Vikings have already had their bye week this season.
WR- Courtland Sutton(1), Denver: In a disappointing performance for the Broncos, where they got ran off the field by Baltimore, Sutton was a bright spot. He caught 7 passes for 122 yards in the 41-10 loss, accounting for more than half of Box Nix’s 223 passing yards. Sutton also did his damage on only 10 targets, catching a much greater percentage than Nix’s overall 57.6 completion percentage for the game.
Threat Ratings Week 9 2nd Team
QB- Sam Darnold(2), Minnesota
RB- Alvin Kamara(2), New Orleans
RB- Tony Pollard(1), Tennessee
