Week 5 All-Threat Team
The All-Threat Team in Week 5 was highlighted by some unfamiliar names at the running back position, at least in terms of being highlighted on lists like this. Then, on the receiver side, it was some of the usual suspects for the most part. There were a lot of elite offensive performances in Week 5, but here's the guys that stood out above the rest.
Threat Ratings Week 5 1st Team
QB- Kirk Cousins(1), Atlanta: I guess if you throw for 509 yards, you can rise to the top of Threat ratings! Cousins was masterful in his performance against the Buccaneers on Thursday Night as they tied it on a last second Younghoe Koo field goal and then went straight down for a Touchdown in Overtime. Cousins got the entire offense involved with 5 receivers catching for more than 60 yards in the contest. This is the Cousins the Falcons were hoping they were getting when they signed him as a free agent this off-season. Let's hope, for their sake, it continues.
RB- Tyrone Tracy(1), NYG: In a thin Giants backfield, rookie Tyrone Tracy got the call for a big workload against Seattle on Sunday and he looked every bit capable of handling the load. Tracy rushed 18 times for 129 yards good for 7.2 yards per carry. He helped the Giants, who were without star rookie Malik Nabers on the outside, control the game on the ground and come out with the win over Seattle.
RB- Rico Dowdle(1), Dallas: Dowdle came up huge for the Cowboys in a Sunday NIght win over the Steelers. It's becoming apparent that he is the go-to-guy in that backfield. He turned 20 carries into 87 yards and caught 2 passes for 27 yards. His touchdown catch was an impressive route and ball adjustment for a running back. For the Cowboys to get where they want to go, they'll have to have more games like that from Dowdle, because we don't see them coming from Zeke Elliott any time in the future.
TE- Travis Kelce(2), Kansas City: It hasn't been a banner year for Kelce so far, but Monday night showed glimpses of what he's always been for the Chiefs. With their current lack of outside talent, the Chiefs ran plays with 4 tight ends on the field at times against New Orleans. Genuinely, it reminds you of the Alex Smith led Chiefs, where they once went nearly a whole season without throwing a touchdown pass to a wideout. That said, at least there's Kelce and they'll need him to play at least as well as he did Monday Night if they're going to keep their winning ways up. He had 9 catches for 70 yards on 10 targets.
WR- Brandon Aiyuk (1), San Francisco: 30 Millions dollars never paid for so little production... That is until the 49ers Sunday matchup with the Cardinals. Aiyuk finally broke out and started earning the contract by hauling in 8 receptions for 147 yards including a 53 yarder. All of that, though, could not stop the Niners from going scoreless in the second half and squandering a 13 point lead to Arizona to lose 24-23. They'll need Aiyuk to turn in these kinds of performances more regularly to get their season turned around.
WR- Drake London(1), Atlanta: London got a big piece of Cousins' 509 yards breaking out for 154 and a touchdown in the Falcons win over the Bucs. London worked the intermediate area of the field beautifully catching 12 passes on the game. London was a first round pick a few years back and hasn't had the help at QB to showcase his talent to this point. Falcons fans and fantasy managers everywhere are hoping games like this become the rule and not the exception. London certainly has the talent to make that the case.
WR- Ja'Marr Chase(2) Cincinnati: The botched overtime field goal aside, the Bengals offense did everything they needed to beat the Ravens on Sunday even though they came up short. As usual, Ja'Marr Chase was right in the middle of all of it with 10 receptions for 193 yards and two touchdowns. His 70 yarder was a work of art, coming almost all after the catch with too many broken tackles to count. The Bengals will need these performances to continue to turn their season around, but they'll eventually need to get something from their defense.
