Thursday Night Football Best Bets Week 8
It's a West Coast matchup on Thursday Night Football with Minnesota traveling to LA to take on the Rams. No team has won a game this season after facing the Lions, so the Vikings will try to buck that trend on a short week. We expect both teams to try to move the ball through the air and it could be a high scoring affair as Kevin O'Connell faces his former mentor Sean McVay. Here's the picks we're going with:
Justin Jefferson Over 82.5 Receiving Yards: Jefferson shows a strong advantage against the Rams defense in the Deep part of the field and we like him to create some explosives in this one. Jefferson is collecting an absurd 34.2 percent target share for the Vikings this season and averaging 88.8 yards per game. The Rams are 28th in defensive DVOA (FTN). We believe Jefferson goes over in this one.
Jordan Addison Over 40.5 Receiving Yards: Addison shares the deep field advantage that we saw with Jefferson against the Rams secondary. He is getting back in the groove after missing a few games early in the season, but Addison has an Average Depth of Target of 18.3 this season, putting him in a prime spot to use that deep field advantage. We think Addison joins his teammate and goes over against the Rams.
Matthew Stafford Over 237.5 Pass Yards: Stafford will get some firepower back in week 8. Cooper Kupp is expected to play tonight against the Rams and Puka Nacua is a possibility as well. The Vikings are giving up 232.2 pass yards per game largely as a result of playing with the lead, a ton. If this game follows a similar script, Stafford could be forced to throw a lot and go over his total.
