Sunday Night Football Best Bets Week 5 Plus Late Slate Bonus Picks
After a full day of football. There's nothing like sitting down to watch two of the most iconic franchises in the sport try to prove there mettle in a showdown against each other. For the Steelers, expectations are always there but no one quite knows what to make of the QB situation. Justin Fields has played well enough to lead them to a 3-1 record so far, but will he be the long term answer? For the Cowboys, 12 wins has been the norm the last few seasons with playoff disappointments to follow. There's some questions this year, however, as to whether they'll keep it together long enough to reach the playoffs and provide that disappointment. Let's take a look at what we like in this matchup:
George Pickens Over 53.5 Receiving yards: Pickens is collecting 28 percent of the targets in the Steelers offense this year with an ADOT of 12.5. He attacks the deep area of the field on the sidelines. With Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence out, Fields should have time in the pocket to take his shots to Pickens down the field. He's averaging 5 catches per game. If he gets to that number, he'll go over this total.
Justin Fields Over 187.5 Pass yards: The Cowboys lack of pass rushers should work in the favor of Justin Fields in the passing attack. He may not be forced out of the pocket and into scrambles as often allowing him to stand tall and deliver the ball. He has an advantage on the Cowboys defense in the intermediate and deep areas of the field and we think the Steelers offense can do enough damage for Fields to go over his passing total.
Steeler vs. Cowboys Over 44 Total Points: It always feels a little risky to pick an over in a Steelers game, but their offense has shown signs of life as of late, going for 20 points or more in each of the last two weeks. We know the Cowboys are capable of putting up points and we're guessing either team will need to get into the mid 20's to win this one. With good matchups for George Pickens and Ceedee Lamb, we think this one goes over the total.
Bonus Picks from the Sunday Late Window
Deebo Samuel Over 52.5 Receiving yards: Deebo has a strong advantage against zone and in the short area of the field leaving the Cardinals defense vulnerable. He's in the 99th percentile in EPA generated on screens and we think, he could turn some short passes into long plays against this Cardinals defense.
Jayden Reed Over 62.5 Receiving yards: With Jordan Love back, Reed is always a threat down the field, but particularly against this Rams defense. He is getting a nearly 20 percent target share on the season despite a crowded weaponry unit for the Packers. That should go up even more with Love at the helm and Christian Watson unavailable.
