Offense returned in a different way than most were assuming it would in 2024. After an offseason where the running back position was publicly devalued, rushing the ball drove the highest levels of success in both conferences. Efficiency became the name of the game in passing with less attempts for some, but explosiveness is still on the menu.

At Field Vision, we have ranked each team offensively based off of an aggregation of our Unit rankings. We ranked each team at QB, RB, WR, TE and OL with our proprietary offensive Threat Ratings to develop a view of the offensive roster as a whole.

Strongest- Detroit Lions: 88.1(1)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: WR/OL (League rank 2)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: TE (League rank 12)

The departure of Ben Johnson to the division rival Bears may drag their average Threat rating down, but it’s hard not to marvel at their obvious talent. Jared Goff isn’t just the beneficiary of Brad Holmes’ revolutionary rebuild and Dan Campbell’s conditioned culture. His orchestration of the trick plays and elongated drives have properly placed him at the top of various statistical categories. The league’s most efficient QB was aided by a ground-and-pound attack that should only multiply in 2025 with Jahmyr Gibbs taking the next step and David Montgomery healthily returning. Penei Sewell and Amon-Ra St. Brown nearly become afterthoughts in the maelstrom of talent employed by the Lions.

Weakest- New England Patriots: 52.9(32)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: TE (League rank 6)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: OL/WR (League rank 32)

The Patriots’ wrists were bound by Bill Belichick’s inept grouchiness recurring every April. Part of Tom Brady’s departure after the 2019 season was partially owed to the lack of weapons, which has handicapped over a half decade later. If Drake Maye didn’t stand a chance as an incredibly green quarterback, Jerod Mayo gambled alongside Frosty the Snowman against Lucifer. With the draft arriving at the end of the month, Mike Vrabel’s new regime should search high and low for every bit of weaponry they can get their hands on. The idea behind hiring the former Titans coach and Pats linebacker was to continue some of the tradition set by ‘The Overlord,’ so assisting your raw cornerstone should free them from the cruel choices made by a dark father.

2nd Strongest- Baltimore Ravens: 86 (2)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: QB (League rank 2)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: WR (League rank 19)

Adding Derrick Henry to Lamar Jackson’s fleet of unrighteously skilled Ravens was a recipe for certain success. The RB’s explosion beyond the age-30 surprised even his biggest fans, but Lamar’s one-upmanship from the previous year’s MVP win could’ve added a third to his case. His immense speed and change-of-direction propensity overshadows how effective a passer he’s become. Sure, the prominent run game aided in that development, but he also aids the run game’s production with a unique dynamic only he can provide. Mark Andrews’ age began to show, but he is still a top 5 TE in Threat ratings ahead of Sam LaPorta, who was supposed to the next revelation at the position. Zay Flowers is still growing as a top target for Action Jackson but once he does, the Ravens offense will only get better, a seeming impossibility at their current quality.

2nd Weakest- Tennessee Titans: 58.9 (31)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: RB (League rank 14)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: OL(League rank 30)

The top overall pick holders could draft yet another quarterback to overhaul their entire team with Cam Ward. They should more than entertain the option because the Will Levis experience has been mind boggling and Malik Willis is a better Packer than he ever was Titan. If they do draft Ward, the external worry with a young QB still stands being that Tennessee’s offensive line grades near the bottom of the NFL. Neither Levis nor his replacement, Mason Rudolph, got the support they needed from the corps of no-name wideouts and tight ends, better at blocking than catching. Brian Callahan has plenty to fix with this team but the light at the end of the tunnel generates with who they select at the top of this year’s draft.

3rd Strongest- Philadelphia Eagles: 84.6(3)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: RB (League rank 1)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: QB(League rank 15)

The Eagles just Tush-Pushed themselves to a Super Bowl win and Kellen Moore’s final persuasion to embracing the run game got him the Saints gig. Obviously, Saquon Barkley completed the greatest year an RB has ever played, and the offensive line graded out highly as well. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are the premier tag team attacking the outer edges of defenses, but the passing attack was severely condensed from the Eagles’ past. There wasn’t a better example of how strong rushing the ball returned to the forefront in 2024 than the Philadelphia Eagles. Their offense was not only built around it, but the entire team was designed to dominate the modern NFL exactly how it did. The blowout wasn’t a fluke but the Eagles fully asserting themselves like they had for 16 games prior.

3rd Weakest- Cleveland Browns: 59.4(30)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: TE (League rank 9)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: RB(League rank 32)

The cliche of 'downfall studying' has been overused by too many Internet twerps but I think it applies particularly well with Cleveland's past half decade. From not paying Baker to paying Deshaun too much, the rest of the roster has melted around Myles Garrett. The greatest gift since LeBron's return was his rescission of his trade request, but there are still plenty of holes to fill. The offense’s inefficiency is proof of the horrendous performances from the $230 million man and his rotating door of backups. Jameis Winston is entertaining, but not in a productive or The Browns brass has committed to both Berry and Stefanski with recent extensions and heavy scouting presences look to improve what was once an incredibly talented team. Depending on who Tennessee rolls with, an overhaul at the most important position could begin the long haul in rejuvenating their team.

4th Strongest- San Francisco 49ers: 83.9(4)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: TE (League rank 1)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: RB(League rank 11)

The 49ers fall from NFC Champion to early Cancun visitors shocked the contigent of Brock Purdy supporters, but the season-long extended beyond the QB, who rated as one of the best according to Threat, and the offense he led. McCaffrey’s injury kept this team from reaching the success that became so familiar to the red and gold, but even more so, Brandon Aiyuk’s ACL and Deebo Samuel’s disappearance are the true culprits. George Kittle also buoys the unit’s average Threat rating with Purdy as the league’s top tight end, continuing his legend.

4th Weakest- Dallas Cowboys: 59.8 (29)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: RB (League rank 19)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: QB(League rank 29)

Making fun of Jerry’s team grows in ease each year, but they had a few moments of scrappiness that was appreciated. When you wait to pay anyone $60 million, their absence at any point will likely tear your year to shreds. Dak Prescott now has an injury problem and an expensive one at that. Other than Ceedee Lamb, there are no weapons for Dak to feast with, which if Ceedee’s early career is any proof, he can produce and provide at a high level. The inactivity of the league’s longest tenure general manager continues to boil the tension waters while serving as an effective punchline to any silver-tinged conversation.

5th Strongest- Atlanta Falcons: 79.9(5)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: RB (League rank 2)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: TE (League rank 26)

Over the last few years, the movie industry has migrated from Hollywood to tax-elusive states like Georgia. The Falcons are the example that proves that directors are the most important individual on set and Kirk Cousins bombed at the box office. Bijan Robinson leads a pack of studs and stars, but the old man just couldn’t recover from his tragic flop properly. While adding an actually productive tight end to the mix would help, Michael Penix might be the perfect auteur to put people in the right spots, even if his acquisition was slightly controversial. Though, only a short film’s worth of footage is available on Penix in the NFL, the cast is full of quality co-stars for him.

5th Weakest- Jacksonville Jaguars: 62(28)

Strongest Offensive Threat Rating: TE (League rank 13)

Weakest Offensive Threat Rating: RB (League rank 29)

The terrible Jacksonville defense fell apart every chance they got but it wasn't aided by Trevor Lawrence's poor play and recurring injury issue. Mac Jones did all he could to save the season when handed the reins, but at the end of the day, he's Mac Jones. Brian Thomas Jr. creates a strong pivot point for new head coach Liam Coen to build his passing attack. James Gladstone arriving from the Rams may bring some of the "trade down" magic that Les Snead and Sean McVay have executed, but much more will be needed to fix the offense. Their paper-thin offensive line unit and running back core lack toughness necessary to winning in the NFL, which may be solved with Coen’s zone run attack from Tampa (by way of LA and San Francisco).
